I believe God is love. I believe God called us to love. To love on people, to love on nature, to love on all things. There is nothing I could do to earn the love God has given me, but I want to go out there and love the people He loves. Love without restraint, whether that be through connecting with communities and building ministries or serving in small ways like serving lunch. Paul speaks on this love in 1 Corinthians 13 saying, “Though I have the gift of prophecy , and understands all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing”. This verse is oh so powerful because it shows how as Christians we truly are called to love first. It doesn’t matter how cool you are, or how much money you have, or how successful your are in life, without love, you are nothing. Without Christ’s love, I am nothing. More insignificant than the gum on the bottom of my shoes. But through Christ’s love, I am able to strive everyday to try to love others like Jesus did, even though no love I could give would surmount or come close to that of God’s. We are called to “be imitators of God as dear children, and walk in love, as Christ has also loved us and given Himself for us (Ephesians 5:1-2)”. And everyday I fail and sin though I try not to, and everyday God reminds me of His mercies and His love and for that I am eternally grateful.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

John 3:16 is probably the most quoted verse in the Bible, but for such good reason. Its hard to even imagine the love someone would have to have to give their only child so that the world through Him might be saved. But God is that love, and God sent His son, Jesus, so that we might be able to feel that love as well. Jesus also says in John, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down ones life for his friends.” which is exactly the great love He showed when he layed down His life on the cross for our sins.

Something I wrote in my personal journal that I felt led to share 🙂
